SilkkiLu Business Consulting - Silk Road to China

in 2010 China has surpassed Japan to become the second largest economy in the world. Many companies worldwide has moved manufacturing and R&D centers to China. Those Finnish companies, which have operations in China, planed to invest more in expanding to other areas of China, for example Nokia, Wärtsilä, Tikkurila, UPM, Metso, Outokumpu, and Kemira. Compared with Finland, the strengths of China are significant in term of the labour cost, market size and international level. The remarkable strength of Finland is the high technology. The meeting point of China and Finland's strengths produces huge business opportunities. Also, the effects after Shanghai 2010 World Expo will guide international businesses to be concentrated in China. However, challenges such as culture, regulation, language and environment barriers exist anyway.

The name SilkkiLu is a combination of Finnish and Chinese. Silkki in Finnish means "Silk" and Lu in Chinese means "Road". Historically, from Han Dynasty (206 BCE–220 CE) for almost 3,000 years, Silk Road played a key role of connecting Eastern and Western to have cultural, commercial and technological exchange.

Therefore, the aim of SilkkiLu is to provide consulting services for internationalization process. The special area is to link business between Finland and China. Our mission is to serve the same purpose as the Silk Road. SilkkiLu acts as a platform for business networking and culture exchange to accelerate the Finland-China cooperations. Our goal is to help the Finnish companies to find the suitable Chinese partners, enter the China's market in time and operate smoothly in China.

In the end of March 2011, SilkkiLu was invited by VTT (Technical Research Centre of Finland). to became a strategic partners in EESCU (Eco Efficient Solutions for China’s Urbanization) Project, whcih offers networks to EESCU Project.
